This is a rare and fine Arts and Crafts silver swing handled bowl with a planished ovoid form, and embossed with flower motifs, bead and bar border, on three horn feet. The swing bowl was made by Edwin Edward Dunthorne and is fully hallmarked for London, 1907. Together with Frederick Lloyd Boodle, Edwin Dunthorne founded in 1899 the jewellery firm Boodle and Dunthorne at 13 Lord Street, Liverpool. They used two marks, B & D and E. E. D, both registered with the London Assay Office. The firm is still active as a fine jewellery designer group under the name of Boodles.
