This is a handsome Chinese enamel cloisonné hinged footed box with two compartments for jewellery and decorated with millefleur pattern. The interior and underside of the box are a bright turquoise blue enamel on a copper body. It can work as a decorative piece on any side table. There is a possibility that this box was intended to be part of a desk set. This particular style seems to appear only on some jars and desk sets (including matchboxes, letter holders, blotters and stamp boxes).
